Accessibility: Accessible by road and waterways. A rare scenic beauty spot on the south-westernmost tip of Bangladesh in the District of Patuakhali. It has a wide sandy beach form where one can enjoy the unique opportunity of seeing both the Sunrise and Sunset. This sanday beach slopes gently into the blue Bay of Beangle and swimming there is as pleasant as is walking or diving. Kuakata is truly a virgin beach, lined with hundreds of coconut trees, a fest for the boats sailing on the blue waters of the Bay of Bangal with their colorful sails, the fishing, the surfing waves everything here touches the visitor’s heart. The unique custom and costumes of the ‘Rakhyne’ tribal families and Buddhist Temple dating back a hundred years reflect an ancient tradition and cultural heritage. Kuakata is a sanctuary for migratory winter birds. Kuakata is a place of pilgrimage for the Hindu and Buddhist communities. Innumerable devotees arrive here during the festival of ‘Rush Purnima’ and Maghi Purnima’. On these occasions they take a holy dip in the waters and traditional fairs spring up all around, adding a festive air to the place.

One of the rare edifices of Islamic architecture from the 15th century, the Shatgombuj Mosque (the Mosque of 60 Domes) is situated on an enormous site in the suburbs of Bagerhat in Khulna Division. It has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO.
